R&B singer and long-term friend of Kanye West, John Legend slams the rapper over his meeting Tuesday morning with Donald Trump. A disappointed Legend is calling Kanye out for openly supporting the President-Elect. Legend believes the 15 minute visit at Trump Towers in NYC was nothing more than "a publicity stunt". According to a tweet from 'Ye, he wanted to meet to "discuss multicultural issues", those including supporting teachers, modernizing curriculum, violence, bullying and violence in the city of Chicago.
In an interview with Clique.tv, Legend said:
I don’t think it’s impossible to talk to [Donald Trump] about issues, but I won’t be used as a publicity stunt. I think Kanye was a publicity stunt. I’m pretty disappointed with Kanye that he says he would have voted for Trump. I think the things he’s promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people, and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing.
Since Kanye's meeting, he's come out of hiding on Twitter to hint at possibly running for president (again) in 2024; and has tweeted his signed copy of TIME magazine, featuring Trump on the cover.
