The Weeknd made this year's Thanksgiving that much more gratifying as he officially released his highly anticipated third studio album, Starboy. Following months of promotion including four singles ("Starboy", "False Alarm", "Monster Party", and "I Feel It Coming"), AMA and SNL ("Starboy" and "False Alarm") performances, plus the short film, "M A N I A", the Canadian singer and songwriter, born Abél Tesfaye, shared the project on Nov. 25 by XO and Republic Records.
Filled with 18 tracks including features from Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey and Future, the album was produced by star players like: Max Martin; Ali Payami; Cashmere Cat; Frank Dukes; Ben Billions; Benny Blanco; Daft Punk; Jake One, plus more.
First listen through, Starboy is an album where you don't feel tempted to hit skip. If anything, you are wanting to loop and repeat. The album was produced at its best, both audibly and lyrically. True to The Weeknd's style, there's unlimited funky, poppy and dance-infused jams great for club and radio play ("False Alarm", "Rockin', "Secrets", "Love To Lay", "A Lonely Night", "Nothing Without You" and "I Feel It Coming"). But on songs like "Sidewalks", "Attention", "Reminder' and "All I Know", he brings it back to contemporary times with some r&b and auto-tuned heavy ballads.
Besides the already released singles ("Starboy", "False Alarm", "Monster Party", and "I Feel It Coming"), "Sidewalks", "Rockin", "Reminder", "All I Know", "Secrets" and "Six Feet Under" are definitely just a few of the ones to look out for as upcoming hits.
Abél has undeniably created another award winning album here, but check it out for yourself if you don't believe so and let us know your thoughts below!
